Before submitting

Appolar uploads your binary to the store on your behalf, but the store listing — screenshots, description, age rating, and privacy policy — must be completed in App Store Connect and Play Console before submission. Appolar cannot fill these in for you.

App Store Connect checklist

  • App screenshots:required for iPhone 6.5" and 5.5" displays (and optionally iPad). Minimum 3 screenshots, maximum 10. Must show actual app content.
  • App description: up to 4,000 characters. What the app does, for the customer.
  • Keywords: up to 100 characters, comma-separated. Used for App Store search.
  • Support URL:a URL where users can get help. You can use your Shopify store's contact page.
  • Privacy policy URL: required. Use your Appolar privacy page or any compliant URL.
  • Age rating: complete the questionnaire. Appolar apps are typically 4+ (no objectionable content).
  • Review notes (optional but strongly recommended): add your Shopify store URL, a test customer account email and password, and a note explaining that the app connects to a live Shopify store and requires valid products to display content. This prevents rejections from reviewers who see an empty product list.

Play Console checklist

  • Store listing:short description (80 chars), full description (4,000 chars), screenshots (minimum 2), feature graphic (1024×500px)
  • Content rating: complete the IARC questionnaire
  • Target audience: confirm your intended age group
  • Privacy policy URL: same URL as Apple
  • Data safety section: declare what data the app collects. Appolar apps collect email and name for account creation, order history, and a device token for push notifications.

Submitting from Appolar

Once your store listings are complete and your binary is in the Ready state in the Builds tab, click Submit to App Store and Submit to Play Console. Appolar will:

  1. Upload the binary to App Store Connect and associate it with the version you have in review-ready state.
  2. Submit the build for App Store review.

For Google Play, Appolar uploads the .aab to the production track (or internal testing track if you've set that up) and submits for review.

Review timeline

StoreFirst submissionUpdates
Apple App Store24–48 hours24–48 hours
Google Play1–3 days2–24 hours

These are typical times. Apple's review can take longer during high-traffic periods such as the holiday season or after WWDC. You will receive an email from Apple or Google when the review is complete, and the Builds tab will update the status.

After approval

Once approved, your app goes live immediately by default. If you want to control the release date, set a scheduled release in App Store Connect before submitting.

For subsequent updates, you follow the same build-submit cycle: make changes in the builder, trigger a new build, and submit from the Builds tab when the binary is ready.
